SAIA Receives Approval for 2026 Inseta – Funded Retiree Repurposing Programme

The South African Insurance Association (SAIA) is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (Inseta) to proceed with the 2026 Retiree Repurposing Programme (RRP). The programme is a fully funded, 12-month initiative valued at R8 million.

This milestone allows SAIA to enrol 50 mentees from junior to senior management levels across the non-life insurance industry, supported by 25 experienced industry mentors. The new cohort will start on 1 May 2026.

Although SAIA has already received a sufficient number of applications, we continue to encourage individuals who have not yet applied to do so to expand our applicant database for potential future RRP cohorts. The closing date has been extended to February 2026.

Applications can be sent to rrp@saia.co.za, the same email address used during the initial round of submissions, which closed at the end of May 2025. Please note that this system has not yet been reopened for the new cohort.

Now in its third year, the RRP continues to make a meaningful contribution to the sustainability and transformation of the non-life insurance industry. The programme was established to address critical skills gaps identified by SAIA member CEOs, particularly in specialist lines such as Engineering, Marine, Agriculture (crop), Loss Adjusting (motor and non-motor), and Reinsurance, as well as in general lines including Personal, Commercial, and Corporate business.

Through this initiative, SAIA and Inseta reaffirm their shared commitment to skills development, knowledge transfer, and industry resilience, ensuring that the next generation of professionals is well equipped to meet evolving market needs and uphold the standards of excellence that define South Africa’s non-life insurance sector.
