Key Priority Areas

Our work focuses on three core strategic pillars:

stakeholder relations and communication scaled

Stakeholder Relations and Communication

Building strong relationships with stakeholders is fundamental to SAIA’s mission and long-term success. As the representative body for South Africa’s non-life insurance industry, SAIA is committed to fostering and maintaining meaningful engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders — including our members, government, consumers, financial sector bodies, media, and the broader public.

Effective stakeholder engagement is not only vital to fulfilling our mandate, but also instrumental in driving value and trust across the industry.

A key component of our approach is “telling the story” — leveraging enhanced data collection, analysis, and communication to add credibility and strengthen SAIA’s ability to deliver on its core mission.

Through this focused strategy, we aim to encourage collaboration, deepen public understanding, and highlight the industry’s positive contribution to the South African society.

A Century of Leadership

SAIA’s historical journey is deeply intertwined with the evolution of non-life insurance in South Africa. From its early beginnings in 1907 to its official establishment in 1973, SAIA has remained at the forefront of industry transformation. In 2007, SAIA celebrated its centenary, marking over 100 years of dedicated service to the South African insurance market.

With a rich heritage, strong industry leadership, and a commitment to innovation, SAIA continues to drive the future of non-life insurance, ensuring a resilient and progressive industry for generations to come.
