SAIA has established a new system (and database) to effectively monitor motor vehicles salvaged by insurers, with the intent to address certain aspects within motor vehicle crime.
The system is known as the Vehicle Salvage Database (VSD) and hosted and managed by the Insurance Crime Bureau, on behalf of SAIA’s motor insurance members. It has also been agreed by the SAIA Board that all SAIA motor insurance members are required to participate in the project.
The VSD will assist the insurance and the motor industries with the process of managing wrecked motor vehicles by ensuring that an effective mitigating tool is introduced against the many vehicle crime opportunities.
The Salvage Database Governance Committee will oversee all the VSD related operations and comprises out of SAIA motor insurers. Brokers and Underwriting Managers are urged to contact their respective insurers for information about the benefits of this project.
