The SAIA Board re-elects Ronnie Napier as Chairman

Ronnie Napier has served the short-term insurance industry for many years in a number of different industry bodies and other relevant organisations and initiatives, including being the inaugural Chairman of the Financial Sector Charter Council.

He was previously the representative of Lloyds in South Africa and remains an executive consultant to law firm Webber Wentzel Bowens.

“We are obviously pleased with the re-appointment of Ronnie as our Chairman. Ronnie’s wealth of experience and expertise in short-term insurance is obviously of value to the association and the industry. We appreciate the fact that he has availed himself again for a year as the industry grapples with a number of challenges that include a flood of new regulations with which we have to comply,” said SAIA Chief Executive, Barry Scott.

Ronnie Napier served the industry as Deputy Chairman of the SAIA Board in 1999 and Chairman from 2000 up to 2007. In 2010 he was re-elected again as Chairman for another two years. His tenure came up for review at the end of September, 2012.

“I am pleased to be re-elected as the Chairman of the SAIA Board once more. The industry is faced with a number of challenges that it has to navigate through. Transformation, Treating Customers Fairly, SAM, the Demarcation Regulations and the Twin Peaks regulation are some of the areas that the industry has to deal with.

“It is an honour for me to be asked by the Board to continue to assist the short-term insurance industry through all these challenges, and I look forward to serving the industry for yet another 12 months,” Ronnie said.
